Wedding Open Day

Thank you to everyone who joined us (in spite of the rain!) for our 'Thornton Hall' Wedding Venue Showcase event on Sunday 29th September.


With stunning displays from Creative Events and delicious canapes and drinks from Grassington House, Samuel James and The Wright Wine Co.

Superb music from DFC Lancashire and baffling magic from Mark Waddington!

Not forgetting the first-class support from NLV Films, Mark Tattersall Photography, Sugar Fancies Bakery, Sugared Almonds Bridal, Typical Type UK, Yorkshire photo Booth Co and The Bridal Luxe!

Farm Safety


Zoonoses is the term used for infections that can pass between animals and humans.

You can get Zoonotic diseases from direct contact with animals (touching/bites), contaminated food/water and contaminated objects (gates/bedding etc )

Most common zoonotic disease at public farm:

  • E. Coli ( bacterial infection)
  • Cryptosporidiosis ( microscopic parasites)
  • Samonella ( bacterial infection)
  • Ringworm ( fungal infection )


  • Do not put hands on faces or fingers in mouths while petting animals or walking round the farm.
  • Do not kiss farm animals nor allow children to put their faces close to animals.
  • Do not eat or drink while touching animals
  • Do not eat anything that has fallen on the floor.
  • Do not use gels or wipes instead of washing hands with soap and water. Gels and wipes do not remove dirt/diseases
  • Do wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after you have touched animals, fences or other surfaces in animal areas.
  • Do wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating or drinking.


If you believe you have any symptoms of a zoonotic diseases book an appointment with your GP as soon as possible.

5* Animal Welfare Licence

We are deligted to have been awarded the highest rating of 5* for our Animal Welfare Licence (which all animal related establishments must obtain).

The care of our animals here is of upmost importance to us and this licence covers all animal related activities, their welfare, cleanliness adn paperwork/records (H&S, risk etc).

Experience hands on animal encounters on our traditional working farm here at Thornton Hall Country Park. Climb on board our Safari Ride and take a trip up to our Deer Park then enjoy some delicious food in our onsite diner while the little ones burn off the remainder of their energy in our huge fun filled Play Barn… a fun filled, informative family day out, RAIN OR SHINE!

We only allow Guide Dogs on to the farm sorry for any inconvenience.
