Pendle RDA’s PRIDE (horse simulator) is now ‘stabled’ here at Thornton Hall Country Park and we couldn’t be more happy to have PRIDE here.

Pendle RDA (rdapendlegroup.co.uk)

Set up in February 1977, Pendle Riding for the Disabled is one of the oldest such groups in the country.

They provide life-changing opportunities for people with disabilities to ride.

Who can benefit?

People of all ages and abilities enjoy RDA sessions, and there are no restrictions in terms of disability – they can always find an appropriate level of activity.

RDA activities are recommended by physiotherapists for many kinds of physical disability.

Equine therapy can help to strengthen core stability, improve balance, reduce spasms and improve overall mobility. RDA activities benefit children and adults with learning difficulties, helping to improve concentration, communication skills, general learning and socialising.

RDA’s activities are especially designed for children and adults with physical and learning difficulties to receive physical and psycho-social therapy, enjoyment and a chance to achieve.

They can also provide a relaxing, low-pressure environment in which to spend time with a horse, bonding and connecting through touch, speech and breathing techniques.

 The benefits are:

 Multi-sensory

Overcome stress and anxiety

Develop trust and empathy

Connect with nature

Which promotes physical and emotional wellbeing

Coaching Excellence

Pendle RDA’s coaches undergo specialist training to support disabled riders, and lessons are designed to reflect each individual’s needs,
aspirations or therapeutic goals.
